Counselling

Counselling Procedure

3 online rounds. Each round has 4 stages. When a seat is allotted, you have 6 confirmation options to choose from.

4 stages in each round

1
Choice Filling
3 days

Candidates exercise their preferred choices of colleges and branches in priority order. Order matters; any number of choices can be added.

2
Allotment
1 day

Seats are allotted based on rank, community, choice order, and seat availability.

3
Confirmation of Allotment
2 days

Candidate must confirm the allotted seat by selecting one of six options. Non-confirmation leads to loss of seat and movement to the next round.

4
Reporting & Fee Payment
5 days

Reporting to the allotted college (Accept and Join) or to the nearest TFC (Accept and Upward / Decline and Upward) and paying the necessary fees.

3 rounds total

The same 4-stage cycle repeats 3 times. The residual seat matrix at the end of each round becomes the input for the next round, so vacant seats from non-reported and non-paid candidates get pooled for upward movement.

Your 6 confirmation options

When a seat is allotted to you, choose one of these within 2 days. Non-confirmation cancels your allotment automatically.

1
Accept and Join
Lock the allotted seat

Satisfied with the allotment. Download the provisional allotment order and report to the college on or before the date specified for admission. Non-reporting or non-payment cancels the allotment.

2
Accept and Upward
Lock the seat, wait for a better choice

Satisfied with the allotment but want to wait for a higher-priority choice in the upward movement. Report to the nearest TFC, pay fees, and the previous allotment is confirmed if no better choice opens up.

3
Decline and Upward
Drop this seat, wait for a higher choice

Not satisfied with the allotment. Decline it, but wait for a higher-priority choice in upward movement. If none opens, you move to the next round.

4
Decline and Move to Next Round
Drop this seat, try the next round

Not satisfied with the allotment and not interested in upward movement either. Decline and participate in the next counselling round.

5
Decline and Quit
Drop this seat, exit counselling

Not satisfied with the allotment and do not wish to continue in any subsequent round. You exit the counselling process.

6
Upward or Move to Next Round
Try upward movement, then next round

Shown when no seat is allotted based on your choices. Opt for upward movement; if a seat opens up it is allotted, otherwise you move to the next round.

Important notes

  • Special reservation counselling (Differently Abled, Ex-Servicemen wards, Sports Persons) is conducted first, followed by general and 7.5% government-school counselling running simultaneously online.

  • Candidates eligible for 7.5% government-school quota, First Graduate scholarship, or PMSS must report to college / TFC but do not need to pay fees.

  • Seats of candidates who do not report to college (non-joined) and seats of candidates who do not pay at TFC (non-paid) are pooled as vacant seats for the next round and upward movement.

  • The residual seat matrix at the end of each round becomes the input for the next round.
