NATA 2026 Exam Schedule and Key Dates

NATA 2026 is conducted by the Council of Architecture in two sessions. Session 1 is typically held in April and Session 2 in July, with registration opening approximately 45 days before each exam. Candidates can register for one or both sessions, and the better score is considered for admissions.

The exam is conducted online at designated test centres across India. Each session lasts for three hours and covers Mathematics (20 MCQs, 40 marks), General Aptitude (40 MCQs, 80 marks), and Drawing (2 questions, 80 marks). Results are usually published within 30 days of the exam date, after which the rank list is prepared and counseling begins.

Effective NATA preparation requires a structured timeline. With 12 weeks before the exam, a well-structured plan allocates the first four weeks to concept building in Mathematics and Aptitude, the middle four weeks to drawing practice and mock tests, and the final four weeks to revision and full-length practice papers. Drawing is the highest-scoring section and requires daily practice to improve speed and accuracy.

State-level counseling timelines vary. Tamil Nadu TNEA counseling typically opens in June and closes by September. Maharashtra CAP, Karnataka KCET, and Kerala KEAM follow similar patterns. Central counseling through JoSAA for NITs and IITs runs from June to July. Planning your preparation with these counseling dates in mind helps you avoid missing application windows after results are declared.

NATA 2026 is a 3-hour online test with three sections: Mathematics (20 MCQs, 40 marks), General Aptitude (40 MCQs, 80 marks), and Drawing (2 questions, 80 marks), totaling 200 marks. There is no negative marking for MCQs.

NATA difficulty is moderate for students with a strong PCM background and regular drawing practice. The Drawing section is the most subjective and requires consistent practice. Mathematics covers Class 11 and 12 topics, and General Aptitude focuses on visual reasoning and spatial awareness.
